As part of Building Soil Health – Phase II, GAERS convened an Inception Event that brought together government agencies including officials from the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security, Sokoto state Ministry of Agriculture, Sokoto Agricultural Development Project, experts from the Usman Danfodiyo University, extension actors, and farmer representatives.
Key Focus Areas
The event created a shared understanding around:
- The goals and expected outcomes of the BSH Phase II Programme
- The strategic role of the GAERS Demonstration Farm as a learning and innovation hub
- The Training of Trainers (ToT) model for scaling practical knowledge
- The importance of coordinated implementation and stakeholder collaboration
- Opportunities for farmer participation, research, and local ownership
By aligning stakeholders from the start, the programme ensures transparency, accountability, and stronger local ownership.
